Accessorize a Living RoomQuestion:

My family room has remained incomplete for three years now. It is in desperate need of accessories.

I am considering your Large Italian Garden Half Round Plaque for over the couch, but I’m concerned about adding anymore green to the room.

Accessories for the mantel, a new end table, a sofa table for behind the loveseat and more lighting are some of the things I am considering. Can you help?

Sincerely,
Grace

Answer:

Dear Grace,

Accessorize a Living RoomAccessorizing can be a difficult challenge and, according to our mail, you are not alone.

Your choice of our Large Italian Garden Half Round Plaque is spot on. We think it will add personality and character to your room.

The print above your mantle is wonderful and the scale is in keeping with the fireplace. However, the photos, topiary and accessory in the middle are too small in scale and seem out of place. We suggest replacing them with larger scaled topiaries, like our triple Triple Ball Preserved Boxwood Topiary that is 30 inches in height.

The Bourdonnais Double Bookcase Short in Mahogany finish will do double-duty as a sofa table and bookcase behind the loveseat.

A pair of Bronze Chartres Buffet Lamps with Burlap Shades placed on top of the Bourdonnais along with your displaced accessories from the mantle will add a special touch to the bookcase. Now your strategically placed photos on easels, favorite books and accessories become focal points instead of afterthoughts.

Accessorize a Living RoomAdding window treatments will enhance the look of your room and give it a finished look.

We suggest our simple Elise Linen Panels with celadon stripes hung as strait, single panels on the side of each window for a sophisticated look.

Why not try one of our Terrific Tables with a Khaki Twill Tablecloth in between the sofas? The Couture Table Lamp Base in Restoration Bronze and a Seagrass Shade placed on top will brighten the corner while adding texture to the room.

The addition of some Ballard Basic Pillows covered in Khaki fabric and a Limited Edition Designer Throw Pillow or two on the sofa and loveseat will help pull the entire ensemble together.

Let’s not forget the space above the media center! Our Pruvost Plaque hung above the media center will work beautifully.

We hope that our suggestions will help you solve your Decorating Dilemma. And of course, we would love to see pictures of the finished product!

Sincerely,
