Fresh Living Room Color Scheme

Fresh Living Room Color SchemeQuestion:

Attached you’ll find a few pics of my family room. I’ve begun adding a few pieces here and there, but overall the room feels beyond bland. I’m not sure what other kind of accent furniture I can bring in or if I can add another color to the scheme. There seems to be a lot of space to add pieces, but I’m just not sure what would look best. This is our main living area, where we spend time as a family – with two young children – playing, reading, & watching TV, so we like simple and functional. Any help you can provide would be SO helpful because we’re really stumped!!!

Regards,
Ann Marie

Fresh Living Room Color SchemeAnswer:

Dear Ann Marie,

We think you have chosen an updated and fresh color scheme for your living room. Your furniture selection is classic with a contemporary flair and works well in the space. We do believe that a few essential additions can complete the simple and functional space you desire. Although your windows are somewhat odd in their placement, we feel that adding our Elise Linen Panels in Flax hung close to the ceiling line will take away the starkness. Although your windows almost meet in the corner, you really need the softness of the panels. Place one panel on either end of the front window, and one panel on either end of the side window covering the frames, leaving the windows exposed. The decorative rods should be finished in a dark bronze or natural iron. You may have to remove the finials in the corner and butt the rod ends together to make that corner look intentional.

To the left of the front window, we think the Set of 3 Medallion Plaques hung side by side would anchor the space and make a statement. On either side of the mirror above the sofa, we suggest a Fern Plaque with the middle of the plaque lined up halfway up the mirror. To the left of the sofa (facing it) our St. Honore Side Table with the Cote D’Ivoire Lamp in Antique Cream will provide texture as well as brighten up that corner. Your ottoman looks great in front of the sofa, try adding a tray with either a lush green plant or even our Ceramic Bottles in Light Blue to accent the blue in the rug. As a final touch, you can add some of our Outdoor Throw Pillows (yes outdoor – great with kids) in Capri Stripe, Capri Floral and Green for pops of color throughout the room.

We hope that our suggestions will provide you with a feasible plan to follow in completing your living room. Of course, you can do as little or as much as you wish. These are just a few ideas to help you achieve your goal. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us. We would love to see some pictures when you finish.

Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team
