I just painted my sitting room which is only about 12 x 12. The dilemma is the red sofa. I need to get rid of it or hide it somehow. I’m also going to donate the cabinet. I just painted it benjamin moore chelsea gray. I’m hoping you can give me some ideas on how to complete the room. Thanks for your help.

Dear Denise:
Thank you for your recent Decorating Dilemma. We absolutely love the color combination you chose! It is elegant and sophisticated. We do have a few suggestions on finishing the room. Our first thought is to replace the sofa. Our Davenport Sofa slipcovered in Off White Quilted would be a perfect choice. Add a few pillows covered in Lorenzo Charcoal fabric.
Above the sofa, a set of 3 Chappelle Mirrors would add some dimension and light to the room. On either side of the sofa, we think the Colefax Chairs (covered in Scandicci Grey fabric) facing each other would create an intimate conversation area. To anchor the space, we chose the Collins Rug with 2 Durham Bunching Tables in front of the sofa. The windows are beautiful, and should be framed. We thought our Ballard Essential Panels in Off White Quilted would look understated and elegant. Mount the drapes above the casing for visual height.
You will need side tables and lighting in the room. The Benedetta Round Side Table in Rubbed White for one side of the sofa with the Bisque Cream Gourd Lamp on top and on the other side of the sofa you can use your existing black table with our Madison Lamp in clear on the top. To round out the design, on the wall where the existing cabinet is – fill it with Atelier Antlers – there are five different styles, and we think they would look fabulous.
We have purposely kept the color palette to a minimum creating a sophisticated and understated look. Just add a few accessories, perhaps some burlap covered books and a vase of fresh flowers and we think you will indeed have a room you can be proud of. Please drop us a line and let us know if you think we hit the mark with our suggestions. We love the feedback. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance, and don’t forget to send us pictures of your completed sitting room. We would love to post them on Style Studio.
Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team
