An Office that Works! from Esther

I live in small co-op garden style unit. I am planning to purchase original home office furniture. My organizer suggests my color choices are not ok….
The space is without windows (dark) and unfinished except for light wood floor. Paint to come later might be white, light gray or one wall silver metalic don’t know yet. Lighting to be added for desk and there is a ceiling light fixture to be changed. The space is open to living room which has yet to be furnished or painted. Idea is to have light gray neutrals/ white for living room too. I plan to add color and make changes of color with assessories. Our organizing efforts are stalled until I get furniture. I like the idea of having white hutch and cabinets; black work tops for both credenza and desk. She says work tops should match cabinets below. I want to keep it light and bright and I don’t like brown. What do you think of the white and black combination?
Dear Esther:
We have to agree with your organizer. We feel that you should keep the office furniture white. You can always accessorize with the black.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Send us a picture or two when you are finished so we can post it on Style Studio.
Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team

I was just going to suggest the architecture letters. I also went to an art fair two weeks ago and purchased our last name in those letters. I think you will be happy using them. One thing about light gray walls is you will not tire of them quickly. It is easy adding black, white & gray accents.

Thank you D for your feedback and suggestions. The wall in the pic is a light true gray. So much better than white and not too dark, just cozy at night.

I went to an arts & crafts fair and found black, white, gray pics of architecture in letters. If anyone is interested check out LetterPerfectNames.com ansd Michelleabc.com. I look forward to “finishing” soon. Thank you for the inspiration!

As far as the silver metallic on one wall – nix! Silver paint looks “black” on a wall with no reflective light (windows) … an alternative would be – maybe the grey on all walls (of your choice) and touches of the silver, whether it be “words”, etc. – “sayings” – or just maybe a lovely stencil – garden, some office do-dad, something that means something to YOU !!! hope this helps ..
