Decorating with Fabrics

Found a bold fabric you love but not sure what to do with it? We have news for you: you don’t have to be an interior decorator to introduce patterns to your home. Decorating with patterns can enliven your space and even show off your personality. How little or how much you use is up to you.

If you love decorating your home and you’re not afraid of bold color, we say go for the gusto. Try a large pattern on an accent chair (like our lovely Louis Oval Chair), drapery panels or even a sofa.

However, if you tend to stick with neutrals and solids, then start small. Upholstering a cube, a bench or decorative pillows lets you use a fabric you love without making a big commitment in look or budget. Your larger pieces, such as the sofa or a rug, will balance the bolder hues.

The best way to mix in pattern in any interior is to use it in at least three places in your home to create continuity. When you’re decorating, apply the fabric to window coverings, upholstery or smaller accent pieces. You can also pull colors from your fabric to create a cohesive color scheme in any room and apply to accessories, wall color and furniture.
