Finding the perfect rug for a large foyer

Decorating Dilemma:

Hi, We have a two story house with a large foyer! I need a 6’x12′ rug to cover the tile! It needs a lot of decorating and I do not know where to begin! See attachment.

What a beautiful house! It’s got great bones, so your job is easy.

You’ve got a couple options for your foyer rug and your decision will depend on what style you like and what’s going to go well with the rest of your decor. A few questions to ask yourself:

1. are there kids coming in and out of this entrance a lot?
2. do you love a lot of color and/or pattern?
3. do you lean toward a more traditional look or do you like to mix in a dash of modern?

If you have kids or a lot of traffic here, you probably want to lean towards an indoor/outdoor rug. It will stand up to the abuse and will be easy to clean. One of our FAVORITES is the new Chevron rug (RW211). It’s available in a sand/gray color way that would pick up the beautiful color of the stone that edges out your room. If you prefer a more traditional look, the Ravello Rug (RW208) also has a pretty grey colorway that would look great with all of your tile.

If the foyer will handle lighter traffic, you could opt for a more traditional construction and style. We recommend keeping it fairly neutral, picking up the gray and cream tones. If you have color in the adjoining room it would work to incorporate a bit of that color into the rug too. Here are a few options to get you started:

 

 

You can’t go wrong with any of these choices. Be sure to use a rug pad to keep the rug in place.
