Living Room Decorating

Living Room addition

Dear Style Studio team,

I can’t seem to pull my living room together.

Of the furniture currently in it, I only want two pieces to remain – the carpet and a chair, the Uttermost Taliaferro Wing Chair in graphite. (I put the name so you can Google the chair for a better picture.)

I want this to be a formal living room for entertaining only. No television in the room. The carpet will be in the center of the room and I’d like a baby grand piano in front of the large picture window (where the small black wooden bench currently sits).

I’d like the wing chair to flank the fireplace, probably on the left as you face the fireplace, and a large sofa (?) on the right.

I can’t decide on a sofa or a color. And I need to decide on a coffee table (?), end table(s), etc. Or just general layout.

Help! (Please)

Best,
Abel

Hi Abel,

A baby grand piano will always set the tone for a sophisticated room … not to mentioned the rich music that fills a space when the piano is played.

Since you would like the piano in front of the window, placing the grey chair to the left of the fireplace is a great idea.

So as to provide balance to the fireplace, we suggest adding the Manchester Chair, along with a floor lamp, to the right.

Another idea suggested by our team is to add our Elise Candle Sconce on each side of your artwork.

Manchester

Next, our Style Team recommends replacing your existing sofa with the Manchester Sofa in Susan Kasler Flax Linen. Embellish the new sofa with a white faux fur pillow nestled between additional throw pillows in Queen’s Velvet Indigo and Haviland Gray.

For a coffee table, we recommend the Olivia Cocktail Table finished off with the Olivia Round Mirrored Side Table beside the sofa.

Formal rooms can always use a bit of sparkle, so we recommend adding the Abeille Side Table next to our Manchester Chair.

Another suggestion is adding a Malia Seeded Glass Lamp by your sofa and the Charlotte Floor Lamp by your grey chair for additional lighting.

Zebra Stool

Zebra Needlepoint Stool

For those unexpected guest who look for a cozy seat, we suggest add a Zebra Needlepoint Stool in front of the fire. Placing a small collection of treasures to your mantle will be the finishing touch to complete your room.

Happy Decorating!
