Window Treatments In Master Bedroom

Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.

Hi How to Decorate Team!

My husband and I are building a gorgeous house in Chesapeake, Va. My challenge is what to do in terms of window treatment in our master bedroom.

The bed will be surrounded by windows and I would like to showcase them without hiding them to much, but also find a way to have some privacy in the room. The space where the bed will be is 148 inches long.

The only way I can think of doing this is to hang a XXL curtain rod upside down from the ceiling part and hang four window panels.

Thank you for your help!

Sabrina,

We love your inspiration photo. What a great plan!

Since your higher windows don’t appear to need privacy, we suggest trimming them out and letting them speak for themselves.

With privacy on the lower windows, consider using a varying light control window shade over each window and then hang panels on poles halfway between the wall break and your upper windows.

The panels won’t necessarily give complete privacy but they will soften the hard corners and give your space a feeling of completion.

Happy Decorating!

Great ideas for the windows! Would love to know where the bedroom furniture is from in the photo credited to Jonathan Edwards Media.
