Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.
Dear Style Studio Team,
I am re-doing my living room and I’m not sure what fabrics (patterns and solids) go together. My sofa is camel colored micro suede so anything will go.
I’m interested in one of your 9-by-12 rugs but, again, I’m unsure of what goes with what. I love your living room designs.
Also, I’m interested in an ottoman in fabric or leather to use as a coffee table. I need accent pillows for my sofa and recliner, all camel suede large pieces. I also need panels for two windows.
I love greys, turquoise, yellow, brown … please help me pick a color scheme so I can make my living room look like Ballards!! Love those colorful bird pics in the sale catalog.
Best,
Alaina
Alaina,
With your neutral sofa and your neutral walls, you are ready for some color! We have pulled a few things together that will liven up your living room and give you a color direction.
We recommend starting with our Anegada Flat Woven Rug under your sofa and love seat. In the middle of the rug, add a Graham Storage Ottoman upholstered in Deville Seafoam.
Add our Marrakech Blue Ikat pillow and a Ludlow pillow in Twill Butter, to your upholstered pieces, to repeat the great colors of the rug and artwork.
Speaking of art, our Falling Leaves Giclee is a fabulous piece for your space because incorporates all the colors that you love … yellow, brown, turquoise and a touch of grey!
Your windows will be stunning draped in Tuscan Gold Bingham Damask panels. Hang the panels on an iron rod for a simple and fresh look.
When you have a new space with no direction of how you want the space to look, find an inspiration piece that speaks to your heart and then branch out from there.
Happy Decorating!
