How To Make a Wall Hanging

Creating a Wall of Pattern

Fabric wall hanging

In order to hang the fabric to create a wall of pattern, you will need:

Metal Hooks (WS785) which come in two widths – 30”wide or 48”wide

Fabric 54” wide (by the length you want the fabric to hang) adding a few inches for hemming.

Loops for attaching fabric to hooks (or you can purchase curtain rings with clips) or make loops with rope or the fabric.

Fabric hooks 2

Construction:

Hem the fabric on all 4 sides.  for an easy “no sew” option – use iron-on hemming tape.

Evenly space out the loops on the top of the fabric to match the number of hooks.

I recently moved into a new home and it has an open concept floor plan. The kitchen has a bar height counter adjacent to the dining room. There are 2 stools here now which owner left. The will not blend with my new furniture. New set is two toned with cherrywood table top and dove white legs and chairs are white with linen fabric. Would like advice on style for bar stools. I like your LeMans stool. Do you think these would work?

A relative in Spain gifted me with a lovely white tablecloth, embroidered with flowers. It’s a very large rectangle, meant for a table that would probably seat 10 or more. I don’t have a table nearly large enough for it. I would like to hang it on a wall. How can I do that? Sew a sleeve onto one end and hang it from a rod? Frame it?

    thank you

      Hi Katy,
This is a tricky question! First I would ask how valuable this table cloth is to you? Is it an old, vintage piece that you don’t want to damage or change? If so, I think framing it would be a great idea. You could also try a plexiglass or acrylic frame. If it isn’t terribly valuable, you just love the way it looks, you might just hang it on the wall with some pretty hooks or even just very discreet nails or tacks. Sometimes just a few tacks can create a beautiful drape in a piece of fabric that feels lovely, organic, and relaxed. It all depends on the look you’re going for!
      Best of luck,
