Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.

Dear Ballard Designs,

We just updated our bathroom and are clueless how to proceed to finish it. Help!

We need lighting, mirrors, window treatments, a rug and something for walls. It’s a small four-by-eight feet not counting the shower area. Thank you for your consideration.

Bathroom

Dear Son:

Thank you for your dilemma. We do have a few suggestions that will help you finish up your space.

When you have a tight space such as your bath, try to keep things in the same tone so that the room appears to be bigger.

For your mirror, we selected our Bone Sunburst Mirror for above the sink. Our Barrington 3-Light Vanity should be centered above the mirror. It comes in chrome, brushed steel or oil rubbed bronze. You should match the sink fixture.

We think covering the window with a Plantation Shutter would look tailored and sophisticated. Below the sink, our set of three Banana Bark Baskets will provide storage for towels and other bath necessities.  Try hanging a Conchae Botanica Print on either side of the mirror for a cohesive look.

Lastly, our Harlequin Rug in taupe place on the floor will help to tie everything together.

We hope these suggestions help you finish your bath – making it into a retreat!
