Dear Ballard Designs,
I would like some advice on how finish decorating my family room/playroom.
I want this room to have a touch of animal prints in it with splashes of orange and turquoise.
I also want to hang some family pictures in this room. I want this to be a fun room.
Please help!

Dear Tilena:
Thank you for submitting your dilemma.
As with any room – beauty is in the details. We think we have some ideas to help you pull everything together and give your room that extra added punch.
Adding turquoise and orange is a great idea! Let’s start by placing two of our Upholstered Cubes in front of the large sofa.
Try covering them in our Timur Suzani in orange. This is the fabric that will tie everything together.
Next, let’s add a couple of throw pillows in the Timur Suzani and a few in Queens Velvet Pumpkin. Our Fresians Giclee Print will look great above the dark brown leather sofa.
We also recommend that your armless chairs be recovered in the Queens Velvet Pumpkin for an added pop of color.
In the corner, try replacing the tables with our Terrific Trio 30″ in Burlap. Place our Oliver Table Lamp on top to illuminate the corner.
The piece below your flat screen is quite small and we think it should be replaced with a functional piece such as our Tuscan Media Console in black (which is 52 1/2″ wide). We think the scale will be much better. If you choose to hang drapes, hang them from the ceiling – our Burlap Fringed Panels would be a nice choice.
As far as creating a family picture gallery, try creating the gallery above the other storage trunk in the corner. Use similar frames to help tie everything together.
If you set everything up on the floor – make your changes and then hang them – we think you will have a wonderful gallery for all to see.
Although we did not add any additional animal prints, we think the room will have balance and style.
Please send us some pictures when you are finished – we would love to see the transformation!
Happy Decorating!
