This week, we’re excited to feature bedrooms from some of our favorite design bloggers, all featuring some of our newest bedding items. Kristin of The Hunted Interior is an interior designer with a knack for finding treasures. She loves to mix patterns and colors for a collected look, and we’re delighted to showcase how she’s made over her guest bedroom so it does double duty as an office!
With all of our busy lives and more people working from home, as an Interior Designer and a homeowner myself, I am constantly asked to incorporate multiple tasks into various spaces. Two of the most common spaces that seems to get combined together are the guest room and the office. We are currently in the process of completing this in our own home as I run my design business as well as my blog, the Hunted Interior, from our home.
The trick on combining these spaces together is to complete the look so neither of the two takes over the space. When you are working, you don’t necessarily want to feel like you are in a bedroom… and when guests arrive, they do not want to feel like they are sleeping in between the printer and the filing cabinet. It’s nice to incorporate the two spaces into a calming multipurpose space.
For our home, we utilized our daughter’s old daybed as it is a great option for this room scenario. As the space will be an office the majority of the time, the daybed can act more like a sofa. I choose to use the Audree Pom Pom Quilt in Gray on this bed as it takes on a more tailored look. This gives the bed a more sofa like appearance with the lack of a full duvet. It also stays in place better thanks to the weight of the quilt.
When using a daybed as a sofa, it is important to pile on the pillows as it is so deep. I mixed the coordinating Audree Pom Pom Euro Shams and Ticking Stripe Euro Sham in Black with multiple velvet and linen pillows to finish the look.
Adding a tufted cocktail ottoman to the furniture arrangement also helps to reinforce the seating area feel.
When our guest arrives, we simply remove the decorative pillows and pull back the quilt to reveal a luxurious Guest Room.
Creating a multi purpose space does not have to feel forced. With a little thought into how the space needs to function, you can easily blend the two together with gorgeous results.
Stay tuned to the Hunted Interior to see how the rest of this space turns out.
Thank you so much, Kristin, for sharing this space with us!

So beautiful! That pom pom quilt is playful, yet neutral enough to not be too feminine. I can’t wait to see more!

Love the day bed idea, however, it would have been nice to see the entire room.

This guest bedroom/office is perfection. We attempted this look in our last apartment and the functionality was great! The color combination and entire look is absolutely gorgeous!
