Coastal Color Palette: Sandy Neutrals

Living room with color palette of tans and whites

If you’ve flipped through the pages of our summer catalog, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve loved infusing all of our pages with a coastal vibe. Whether it’s strong navy-and-white color palette, soft sandy neutrals with hints of the sea, or a light watery aqua from top to bottom, ‘coastal’ always feel fresh and relaxing, a Ballard Designs favorite! Inspired by the spaces in our Summer 2014 catalog, we’ve broken down exactly how to get that coastal look straight from our pages to the web!

We couldn’t help but be drawn to the living room above — the sandy neutrals tones feel effortlessly pulled together with the relaxed but polished collection of furniture, fabrics, and accessories. This living room look is light and breezy for summer, but easily transitions to cooler months making it a year-round favorite. We love the way a perfectly placed woven accent, like our new Marlowe Pendant, can bring any earthy vibe to a space. Here we used a very restrained color palette, just sandy neutrals and white, but we brought in lots of wood pieces in a variety of finishes. A pair of our Madrona Mirrors has an Aged Driftwood finish, a found dough bowl has a warmer, but still worn wooden hue, and a few accent tables from our Durham collection blend a wooden top with an iron base. Together all of these wood finishes keep the room from feeling boring!

What other links have this paint color so we can see it in different lights and in different settings?

I have that coffee table and I love it. The clean, industrial lines go with just about any decor. So nice.
