Freshen Up Your Decor for Spring

Dining room decorated for Spring with yellow

When spring arrives, it’s time to hit refresh at home. It’s the best time to lighten up layers and kick up the color with the season’s hottest hues and playful patterns. Say goodbye to Old Man Winter, and check out our easy ideas below for freshening up for spring.

Budding trees and blooming flowers are one of the surest and most welcoming signs of spring, even if the weather is not quite cooperating yet. So bring those springtime motifs inside for a burst of seasonal color. Here, we hung a lively print botanical and matched it with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers. We topped the table with a combination of fresh and faux plants to instantly re-energize the room.

Living room with striped sofa and coral accents

Now’s the time to lighten up the color palette in your home with bright whites and small pops of color. Take a look around and see what easy changes you can make. Switch out a dark rug for a natural fiber rug or those heavy drapes for a lightweight pair of linen sheers. Change slipcovers to a crisp stripe, like we did here, and toss on a few new throw pillows. We love coral, so we’re always looking for ways to sneak this vibrant color into our rooms.

Patterned slipcovers are an easy update

In case you haven’t noticed, we are in the throes of a full-blown spring fling with our newest fabric by the yard, Courtney. It’s everything we’re craving right now: a fresh pattern in delicious spring hues, spa and citron, on a background of cream. Look closely and you’ll notice the classic Jacobean floral motif is actually created from some of our favorite patterns, including ikat, paisley and chevron. We’re putting it on everything, from curtains to pillows to slipcovers, for an instant pick-me-up in any room.

We love coordinating drapery panels and wall colors

Believe it or not, painting a wall can be a budget-friendly option for changing a space. Choose a pretty springtime color that you love and cover an accent wall or the whole room. We doubled down on spa, pulling the color from the rug, and added drapes in the same soft hue. The art, by exclusive artist Wendy Whitson, is a perfect complement to the colors in the room. By the way, the name of the piece is the aptly titled Spring Walkway.

Botanical prints give a room a fresh, Spring-ready feel

If you’re more of a minimalist at heart, and splashy color really isn’t your thing, then freshen up in more subtle ways. The framed botanicals bring in a beautiful springtime motif with chartreuse, olive and gray-green tones that don’t overwhelm the room. For a natural touch and nice balance in color, we added the Fiddle Leaf Tree. Finally, a solid white throw, white drapery and throw pillows in soothing hues are all that’s needed to revitalize the room for a more seasonal feel.
