We’re Traveling To: Costa Rica

Decor and furnishings inspired by Costa Rica

When we think of summer, we think of summer vacation of course! And if you’re taking a vacation over the next few months, chances are you’re headed to some kind of beach. There’s something about the water that really inspires all of the senses, so we’re letting our wanderlust guide our inspiration for a new series! In our We’re Traveling Series, we’re letting some of the locations on our must-see list guide our home decor choices.

We’ve recently been inspired by tropical locales. The bright, saturated colors, the warm temperatures, and exotic plants and animals are just a few of the things we love about the tropics. For all of these reasons, Costa Rica is on our dream vacation list!

Not only would we love to hang by the gorgeous, blue water and taste the fantastic, Latin food, there are so many great adventures to take in Costa Rica! Between rain forests, volcanoes, waterfalls, rivers, and coasts, there is no shortage of beautiful spaces to explore, either by land or by sea. Plus, did we mention there are monkeys?

Teal is a color that immediately reminds us of the Caribbean, and our Tropical Blue Art definitely has that island feel that can transport you to the water, wherever you are. The large palm fronds have a graphic effect that feels modern but fun.

If you love the look of large houseplants but aren’t yet committed to keeping them alive, we love Bunny Williams Zinc Oversized Leaves, which create a big focal point!

Rattan and wicker are materials that immediately evoke a coastal feel, and that’s because both of these materials can be used indoors or out. Our Augustine Chair uses that classic Rattan material in a caning effect that reminds us of what we might find if we ever do travel to Costa Rica!

We mentioned that color was a big source of inspiration for us this season. Watery blues and lush greens are the types of colors you might find on the coast or in the rain forest of Costa Rica, and if we’re letting this gorgeous country inspire our decor, some lime green linen pillows would certainly fit.

Finally, we couldn’t talk about island style without mentioning Teak! Teak is a wood that is native to Costa Rica, and we love the way this material has a warm, inviting feel. We could imagine placing a fabulous frozen drink on our Blake Side Table with its raw edge and teak construction!
