We’re Into: Pom Poms

Pom pom trend is playful and light-hearted

Decorative trim is like the frosting on top of a delicious cake or the bejeweled necklace that makes the little black dress. It’s that extra flourish in a space that completes the look and adds a sense of personality. Lately, there’s one finishing detail we can’t get enough of, and that’s pom poms. Yes, the soft, fluffy balls once associated with kids’ crafts and hair ties have made their way into fashion and home decor, adorning everything from totes to comforters.

We love the look, because pom poms achieve the same style statement as, say, an animal print. It adds that touch of whimsy that says we don’t take our decorating selves too seriously, yet it manages to do so with sophistication. See, pom poms really are for grown ups. Cheering on the trend, too? Check out our favorite items decked out in pom poms below.

Pom pom trend is playful and light-hearted

Our first foray into pom poms came with our Audree Pom Pom bedding. The miniature pom pom trim adds just enough detail to make it a fun and flirty layer for your bed without being overly precious. In other words, the Mr. won’t mind. We’ve even added a spirited red just in time for the holidays.

Pom pom garland for the holidays

Our creative guru, Karen, dreamed up our Oversized Bell and Pom Pom Garland, because as she said, “What’s more fun than pom poms and jingle bells at Christmastime?” It’s almost certain to add joy wherever you drape it, whether it’s around the tree, over the doorway or up the stairs. The white pom poms and matte silver bells on a white rope give it a clean, modern feel that make it work anywhere.

File this under “Why not?” Our playful pillow is a mashup of two of our favorite things: our best-selling Dodie fabric and pom pom trim. Toss it on a side chair or bed for a spot of color and texture.

Moroccan pom pom quilt from Ballard Designs

Our Moroccan Pom Pom Blanket is based on a traditional Moroccan bedspread that’s often given as a wedding gift. It’s soft and lofty and bed-sized, too, so you can layer it with your other winter bedding. We love it folded down with double the pom poms at the foot of the bed.

You’re not done decorating until you’ve added whimsy to your holidays. Inspired by our Audree Pom Pom Bedding, we added a cheery contrasting pom pom trim to our Treeskirt and Stockings. Quilted cotton with kantha stitching lends a soft, cozy look and feel.

Pom poms aren’t just for the bedroom or living room. Our Audree Pom Pom Shower Curtain brings a playful touch and a welcome softness to a room with so many hard surfaces.

I just got the white pom Pom trimmed monogrammed shower curtain. I got the “spa” colored pom poms. Is it possible to order just the pom poms? I would love to get about 3-4 yards of the spa color? Please let me know-
    Thank you

      Melisa,
Unfortunately there’s no way for us to do that at this time. So sorry!
