When we think of summer, we think of a slower pace. Enjoying the weather from your front porch, afternoon walks, sleeping in just a bit later (one can only hope!), reading in bed. We want all of those places for relaxation, especially bedroom, to feel inviting, light, open, and carefree. We thought we’d pull together 3 pretty bedroom spaces that capture that casual, chic summer vibe. Here goes:
Sandy Neutrals with Pink Accents
Bedrooms are a great place for a neutral color palette because you want them to be a place of rest. That doesn’t mean, however, your neutral pieces have to be boring. In this bedroom, all of the large elements are neutral, but they all have something special about them. Take the bedding we used. We paired our L’Hotel Matelasse in Natural with Suzanne Kasler’s new metallic Alain Collection in Gold.
A tribal-inspired pattern is taken up a notch with a metallic gold finish for a fresh, unexpected, and super sophisticated look.
For the nightstand, we used an acrylic side table with an upholstered cube tucked under. Acrylic is definitely an unexpected choice for a bedroom, but it makes this space feel super chic and fun, despite being mostly neutral. And of course our Nairobi Flax pattern is a whimsical touch!
A colorful throw pillow is a great way to seasonally bring color into a neutral bedroom. You don’t have to commit since you’re only using a few pillows, and it gives you the freedom to take some risks!
Shibori Style Summer
For a slightly more bold look, we brought in accents of indigo! The whole space was inspired by our new Milos Quilted Bedding which has the most beautiful dark blue color and a shibori-style pattern. We paired it with sandy neutrals, like a headboard with a raffia upholstered panel and an X-bench upholstered in our raffia fabric.
An open nightstand is a great way to give a room that open, airy feel — which is always something we’re craving during the summer months. We like this one because there’s still one drawer for closed storage, and plenty of surface area on top for all your must-haves.
Framed cross sections of real agate, in the most striking shade of dark blue, are framed in a grid over the bed. We love the way these sliced pieces stand out from the backing, creating texture and dimension.
Shibori is a Japanese method of tie dying, and we love the way the watery blue pattern of the Milos Bedding feels beachy without the kitsch. With the Milos bedding, we used white sheets with a playful fringe trim.
Sunshine Yellow Summers
Sometimes simplicity is the way to go, which is why we chose our Gwyneth Buffalo Check Bedding in a happy yellow hue. We mixed it with luxuriously soft white linen duvet and shams.
If you have a small bedroom, consider using a bench at the foot of the bed with rounded corners. It’s easier to walk around, and even though it’s a small difference in size, it makes a big difference in the flow of your room.
We believe in putting something bold over your headboard to create a focal point in the room. Our new Jute Leaf Plaques are the perfect accent for this happy bedroom.
Nightstands can be tricky because you often end up cramming them with stuff — books, magazines, tablet, phone, lip balm, hand lotion, glasses, and all of those other little things that seem to multiply exponentially. A nightstand with a charging drawer, like our Wesley Nightstand, is a great solution. It keeps all your devices and cords tucked away, has two shelves for book storage, and enough surface area on top for necessities.
We think a few changes to your bedroom during the same can totally change the feel of your space. Bring in light, casual elements and fun new bedding to create a space where you can relax and take part in some of those slower summer activities.

Sarah,
Thanks for your comment. I would say this image is fairly true to color, yes. The headboard is in Suzanne Kasler’s 13oz Signature Linen in Flax..
