Dear How to Decorate,
I have purchased several items for my family/dinning room — your Haynes Dining Chair, Capistrano Dining Table, Simone Wicker Chairs, and more. I am having a difficult time determining what area rug, drapes, accessories and lamps would compliment the pieces I have already purchased.
Any suggestions for items to go on dinning room would be greatly appreciated. I hope to have this completed before my daughter arrives home from school. Please help! I have attached some photos and the floor plan.
Thank You,
Kathleen
Kathleen,
Looks like you have a fabulous view of the water! What a great place to relax. Also, the selection of furniture is very cohesive and lends to a very beachy feeling in you space. We have added a few more items to complete your look.
For your longer windows, we suggest Suzanne Kasler’d Madeleine Panels that are very neutral but full of style. Hang them high to maximize the size of your windows.
With limited wall space, we would recommend hanging a mirror over your Morgan Double Low to really reflect the natural light within your room. Suzanne Kasler has the perfect piece for this wall — her D’or Sunburst Mirror.
Now, to the left of the front door hang Sea Shell Art in a group to fill out the wall and then add our Morning Tide Art, above the sofa, for subtle color and visual texture.
Rugs! Since your space is open concept, consider our Catherine Rug for the living area and then bring in our Diamond Sisal in Gray for the dining area. Both rugs have a gently color palette that lends itself to the overall feel of your room.
As you can see from the floorplan, we feel that you still have a bit more space for additional seating. We think our Toulon Chair and Ottoman would be a great addition. The rubbed white finish, paired with the Callisto Gray Stripe fabric, add another layer of texture to your neutral palette. Pull our Compass Side Table for a conversational piece.
Even though you have plenty of natural lighting in your home, this area definitely needs lamps. We suggest the Suzanne Kasler Gourd Lamp in Smokey Gray to top the Morgan Side table, position a Sloan Ball Lamp to the right of the sofa – paired with a white Garden Seat – and then add a couple of buffet lamps to your Morgan Double low. Remember to bring in a few fun pillows for the final layer of texture!
Fun and sophisticated … this space is all about texture and looking towards the outdoors!
Happy Decorating!
