Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.
Dear How to Decorate,
I have a huge living room with a wide opening, a gorgeous fireplace to one side, and a large picture window to the other side. This makes it hard for me to place my TV and furniture. I would love to change it up and make my living room more chic and also functional.
We have a big family and two Great Danes so it has to be functional for them too! Additionally we just bought this huge sectional.
I’m lost. I KNOW it could look amazing, but I don’t know how to get it there on my own.
Thanks,
Charra
PS — See these pics below. I just took all of them but one, so please excuse the mess and sleepy husband. I am happy to submit more pics in an hour when everyone clears out for the day!
Charra,
Yes, we can help you create an the amazing living room you’re looking for! You’re off to a good already with your sectional. A few additional pieces and we will create the room of your dreams.
Your fireplace is a great focal point with the gorgeous moulding; we suggest simplifying the accessories to let the moulding take center stage. The Village by Sea artwork will bring out the wood tones and the marble surround of the fireplace. On either side of the fireplace a pair of Thurston Chairs in the Strafford Spa fabric will continue the color story.
Dress your windows with our ready-made Courtney Spa Drapery Panels and repeat the fabric on your sectional with a few ready-made Courtney Pillows.
The Belgard Media Cabinet will be perfect for your television and will give you tons of storage. A pair of Seasons Art prints on either side of the Belgard will bring in more color and coordinate with the Courtney Drapery Panels.
Last but not least- the Carrington Coffee Table in Rustic Pine will finish out the space.
We always love to see photos of finished spaces.
Happy Decorating!
