Decorating Dilemmas: Shawn’s Large Family Room

Helping Shawn choose the right size orb pendant for her large family room

Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.

Dear How to Decorate,

We are contemplating which size Orb to install in our living room. We are drawn to the Orb XL Chandelier. We feel anything smaller than this size would be “too small” for our space. The room is 325 square feet with 19 foot tall ceilings.

Thanks for your help,

Shawn

Shawn,

Contemplate no more — the Extra Large Orb is the correct size for your room. We suggest the Antique Silver finish to compliment your wall color.

Also, consider our vegetable dyed Palmer Rug in the 9×12 size. It has an ivory, citron and turmeric color palette on a wash gray background that will bring in pattern and color to your space. Also consider incorporating a round coffee table or ottoman. They tend to work better with sectionals, and our Hayes Round Tufted ottoman in Signature Velvet Maize would be the perfect partner to your rug.

Lighting is so important in a space, and the corner to the left of your fireplace will become the perfect reading nook with the addition of the Royden Floor Lamp.

One last suggestion: if space allows to the right of the fireplace, we suggest the Alissa Acrylic Console. It will give your parsons chair a home and create a great work space under the window. The Sylvia Table Lamp in black, with its high finish and wood base, is a great partner with the console to create high style.

We love to see photos of spaces after they are transformed.

Happy Decorating!
