Add Holiday Cheer to Your Guest Bedroom

During the holidays, it’s all about going home and making memories with the people you love. Or in some cases, it’s about the people your love visiting your home! If you’re hosting family or friends this holiday season, we suggest making your guest bedroom feel like a festive retreat. After all, they’ve been traveling and are away from their own nest, so they deserve their own space that feels extra cozy and special.

Choose neutral foundation pieces for your bedroom so you can add holidays accents

A neutral foundation is a smart way to begin any bedroom because it gives you the flexibility to refresh things down the road without having to totally reboot your color scheme. We chose an upholstered headboard in our Document Brown fabric, classic wooden nightstands, and an upholstered bench at the end of the bed for suitcases. Most of the year in this bedroom, we’ll use a simple linen duvet cover for a classic look, but for the holidays it’s fun to spice things up a little!

With a couple of simple changes, you can make your guest bedroom feel really special for your traveling friends and family. To our neutral bedroom, we simply added some shams in Suzanne Kasler’s Mackenzie plaid, and we swapped our bedskirt from linen to plaid to coordinate.

For seriously cold nights, it’s hard to beat our Lucca Velvet bedding which is so warm and unbelievably luxurious. Since they complement Suzanne’s plaid so beautifully, we chose to add in an extra quilt and shams.

Hang some mistletoe over the bed for a festive touch

The festive touches don’t have to stop with your accents of plaid! We hung some mistletoe over our Cassidy mirror for another little touch. Then we put some holly in the vase on the bedside table.

We think your houseguests will thank you for creating such a special nest for them while they’re away from their own homes. And the best part is that all you need is a pair of shams and a bedskirt. Clip some greenery from your yard, and your guest bedroom has holiday cheer that could turn any grinch around!

      Charlotte,
For a seaside home, we definitely suggest an indoor outdoor rug. They are so much more hardwearing, and now so many of them are super soft! You can find all of our outdoor rugs here.
