Why We Love Our Indoor/Outdoor Rugs

When we first introduced Outdoor Rugs more than five years ago, we admittedly had one thing in mind: transforming drab outdoor spaces into truly magnificent outdoor rooms. We were so excited to find durable fade- and weather-resistant rugs that were equally fashionable. They brought instant color and anchored seating areas to finish the look. We were in love.

It wasn’t until our fashion-forward customers started telling us how they used their Outdoor Rugs inside their homes that we began to see them in a different light. Party planners, pet owners and moms alike had discovered that our rugs held up beautifully in high-traffic areas—and didn’t require an ounce of sacrifice in the style department.

Naturally, we tried them in our homes and around the office and became true believers. And this is how a new hybrid category was born—and became all the rage.

Here are our top five reasons why we love using our Indoor/Outdoor Rugs inside.

Invitingly soft feel

Remember those scratchy fake astro-turf doormats and poolside rugs of yore? Thankfully, today’s versions are so surprisingly soft that you wouldn’t think twice about kicking your shoes off and getting down low for some floor time. They’re also shed free and have a low pile, which makes them perfect for kids’ rooms and play areas.

Incredibly long lasting

Indoor/Outdoor Rugs are woven from polypropylene (or a blend) for long-lasting durability and incredible stain resistance. So there’s no need to freak out the next time someone drops barbecue sauce or even a glass of red wine all over your carpet—which is why you might want to consider using them in eating areas.

Easy to clean

And just in case the above example actually does happen, all you have to do is give it a good spray with the garden hose. For a deep clean, a mild soap or degreaser and scrub brush should do the trick. You won’t ever have to worry about the inconvenience or expense of taking your rug to the dry cleaners. For this reason, we let them take a beating in our busiest spaces, like the foyer, kitchen and family room.

Fashion forward

Indoor/Outdoor Rugs are available in a wide array of sizes, colors and designs that work in any décor. And if you like the look of natural jute, choose a more neutral style to blend in your space. These versatile rugs really do mix with a variety of furniture styles, from Louis to Vintage Vogue.

Not expensive

Did we mention the price? Because they can be produced relatively cheaply, these rugs are a bargain! If you’re on a budget, polypropylene rugs are a great alternative to wool and other natural fiber rugs.

For years you may have been using one of our Indoor/Outdoor Rugs to bring style and comfort to an outdoor space. And now you just may want to bring the look indoors, too.

Just working on decor for the home, which is all tile…. so of course carpet, but carpet I can clean easily seems like the ticket. I have one very large dog who sheds. I’m going to be a fan of the indoor/outdoor rug!

I am the mother of four children aged 2 through 7. I own five of you indoor/outdoor rugs. I love them. They allow me to decorate stylishly while still being able to let my kids enjoy the house. I don’t have to constantly worry about spills or stains or wear and tear. All that and they are priced great too!!!

Thanks for this article. I recently purchased an indoor/outdoor rug in the all over paisley design and was curious if I could hose it off. I love my new rug.
