Question:
I need help…this room is boring! The room is actually our living and dining room, but I have an eat-in kitchen so I will use the whole room for our living room. I do have quite a bit of space to work with. This is what I have planned:
Currently it is so boring…I am actually thinking of purchasing the Tuscan Bookcases to put against that brown wall (or have built-ins as I would like them to go all the way up to the ceiling). I also need a spot for my computer – perhaps I’ll use the corner unit you have – and by that window I am looking to have a window seat built. Also I want to lighten the room (and the shelves once there) with an antique rubbed cream color. I love the light blue and brown room put together in one of your catalogs with the trestle table and the Parsons chair in that paisley orange print….lovely!
Can you give me ideas?
Catherine
Answer:
Dear Catherine,
Thank you for your recent questions regarding the updating of your living room. We think your concept of a brown and blue color scheme will look fresh and updated. We agree that the Cream Tuscan Bookcases will look great against the brown wall. The beauty of the Tuscan Collection is that it can be moved any time, giving you more options than built-ins. The Tuscan 4 Piece Media Set will afford you placement of your TV plus storage for your components. To pull the Spa Blue into the room, why not add Ballard Essential Panel drapes in Spa Linen. They are available up to 108” in length. An area rug would help define the living space and our recommendations are the Dolci Rug or the Vincent Rug, either of which would give you that added saturation of blue. Because you need space for your computer, the Chatham Office Cabinet would be a great choice. It is compact and at the end of the work day closes to look like a stylish cabinet. Lastly, the addition of Throw Pillows in Springwood Floral, Spa Linen and Toffee Check for the window seat and couches will add that extra pop of color to bring the whole room together.
One thing we would like to mention is the lack of Lighting in the space. Make sure you have adequate lighting to address all of your needs. It should include some task lighting (Table Lamps) and ambient lighting which will create the mood of the room.
We hope that you find our suggestions helpful. Whether you use one idea or all of them, they are intended to give you a step by step plan to complete the look you envision. The best of luck in your project, and please send us some photos of your “new” living room!
Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team
