Warm and Inviting Rooms

Warm and Inviting RoomsQuestion:

Hi design team.

I just wanted to let you know how much I absolutely love Ballard products. I look forward to receiving your catalogs and creating a beautiful home with all of the wonderful furnishings you offer. The only problem is that I am stuck on how to go about this. There are so many things I like but don’t know what direction to go.

I bought back in December two pictures form Ballard (shown in dining area) that I absolutely love and hope to use as design inspiration for the two rooms. My dining room and living room are connected, so I am trying to tie them together. I am open to any and all suggestions.

As for the dining room, I would like to keep the dining table but would like suggestions as far as the chandelier, window treatments, carpet, coverings for the chairs, buffet, wall hangings, etc. As for the living room, I hope one day to get rid of the couch but would like to keep the two black chairs. Any suggestions as far as the couch, the carpet, wall hangings, window treatments, etc. are welcomed. I look forward to finally making these rooms warm and inviting. I can’t thank you enough for all of your help.

Warm and Inviting RoomsDear Karyn,

Thank you for sending us your Design Dilemma. We’ve come up with some exciting ideas to tie your Dining Room and Living Room together. Our first thought was to take the rug in the Living Room and place it in the Dining Room. Our next suggestion is to paint your dining chairs black, but leave the table as is. You can order our Apple Velvet Fabric to cover the chair cushions. Adding 3 of our Burlap Covered Demijohns in the center of the table will wow your dinner guest! For the windows, our Butter Twill Essential Panels hung from the ceiling line will add warmth as well as visually heighten the room. Our choice for a chandelier is the Montserrat Chandelier in Black. The chandelier you have right now appears to be a bit too high. Try hanging the Montserrat about 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table for the most impact.

In the living room we selected the Leondra Rug. As far as a sofa, we feel the Brentwood Sofa covered in Butter Twill will look spectacular! You can add some Throw Pillows in Small Black Check and order our Black Fleur De Lis Fabric to make a few additional pillows. Placing the Preston Cocktail Table with its curved base in rubbed black in front of the Brentwood sofa adds a European flair. Our Terrific Trio Table covered in Apple Velvet next to the sofa with the Colonne Table Lamp and Seagrass Shade would be a nice choice. In between the two black chairs, we think the Scalloped Pedestal Table in Green with our Amiel Wood Lamp placed on top would create an inviting seating area.

The windows would look great with our Small Black Check Panel with Valance also hung from right below the ceiling for a dramatic impact. For wall art, we would like to see a dramatic impact over your fireplace and our Whimsical Prints (5 across if possible) would look fantastic. Over the Brentwood Sofa, the Pruvost Plaque would add to the drama. Please refer to Style Studio’s How To section on “How to accessorize our Tuscan Bookcases” for some exciting ideas. A collection of celadon green plates on stands with perhaps some interesting black leather boxes and some leather bound books would give the shelves personality.

We do hope that you will be able to implement some of our suggestions. Please drop us an e-mail and let us know what you think about our ideas. The best of luck in your project! Please send us pictures – we would love to put them on Style Studio.

Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team
