Question:
I have been looking at the Marrakesh Pendant lights. Is this enough lighting over a kitchen sink and island area since it’s only 60 watts?
Beatrice
Answer:
Dear Beatrice,
Task lighting is very important in a kitchen. The general rule of thumb for a pendant light is a 60 to 75 watt fixture for every 20 inches of counter space. This should provide enough light to perform most kitchen tasks. A pendant centered above the sink should also provide adequate lighting.
Please be aware that most overhead lighting creates shadows, so on countertops with cabinets above, one should consider under-counter task lighting. It should be mounted close to the front edge of the cabinet for maximum efficiency.
We do hope that this information will help you decide on our Marrakesh Pendants. We think they have great style and will add that special something to your kitchen. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Send a picture or two when you have finished your project. We would love to post them on Style Studio.
Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team

Dear Lori: The catalog is correct. We should have qualified our answer about the Marrakesh Pendant. It is only 40 watts! We are sorry for the confusion. Our suggestion is to use the Marrakesh Pendant as ambient lighting rather than task lighting. We hope that this clears up the confusion.
Sincerely,

Is the maximum wattage on the pendant 40 or 60? The catalogue says 40 but this letter implies that it is 60 watts…I am interested in purchasing two pendants if the wattage is 60.
Thanks!
