How To Decorate Our Living Room

Dear Style Studio,

We are completely stumped with how to decorate our living room.

We have a big sectional and big windows but no clue what to do with the long wall that runs along the short side of the sectional couch.

The living room and kitchen flow together and there is another wall in between the sliding doors and the couch that needs decorating. SOS!!!

We have dark brown furniture, black granite counters and pops of red in the kitchen. We have painted one accent wall along the back…and that’s as far as we have gotten!

I would love help on what to put on the wall and a color scheme that I can carry through to the entry area.

Any tips would be wonderful!

Kristen,

What a fantastic wide open space you have to live and entertain. We know how important your home is and how relaxing it can feel when a room is complete. Below are some ideas we pulled together for you to do just that … complete your room.

Your large expanse of wall is somewhat asymmetrical with the furniture placement in the room. To create a visual ending point on the wall and to provide height, we suggest adding our Nadine Metal Etagere to the right of your round end table. Baskets can be added to the bottom shelf providing excellent storage.

Now … playing off the natural wall frame created, begin adding different pieces of wall art to create a collection. This collection doesn’t need to be symmetrical but a medley of different pieces. We think our Melody Giclee would be a good anchor piece to the collection.

Next you can add a clock or wall plaques like our Wooden Provost Plaque. To finish off, sprinkle the wall with smaller mirrors or try our Typesetter Plaques in black, spelling out a word that inspires you.

Your windows would look fabulous with panels of Danish Oatmeal on a black rod. To accessorize your windows and sectional, cluster pillows on your sectional in Document, Samara Spice and Queens Velvet Pumpkin for great color! If you need an additional side table, the Durham Nesting Tables would be a perfect fit!

That empty wall space to the left of your sectional … we have a fabulous piece for that. We suggest the Huntshire Sideboard in Antique White. Nothing but great storage and the perfect style for your space.

Hope these ideas will inspire you…Happy Decorating!
