Dear Style Studio Team,
My foyer is rectangle shaped and it opens into my living room with a half-wall of “decorative,” wooden-turned stiles on top of the half-wall that go to the ceiling (the house was built in 1980’s).
I would like to replace the stiles with something more modern. Any suggestions?
There’s a window dividing the living room and sun room and I need to replace the curtains. I want to keep curtains of some sort to frame window. Any suggestions?
Also, I would like to find fabric to complement the floral chair to add more pattern in room. Any suggestions?
Lastly, any suggestions for an update of the room in general?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Debra,
There comes a time when every room needs to be freshened up a bit! We have a couple of suggestions for your space that will do just that.
You have a large room with lots of visual activity so we suggest replacing your spindles with a single column … or maybe two.
The first option is to remove the half wall and replace it with a single, full-size column – Image A. The more substantial column would provide better scale to the room.
The second option is to widen the half wall footprint and crown the wall with a larger column – Image B. If the wall is not load bearing, we suggest our Wood Columns as a beautiful option. Once you the new columns are in place, consider removing the artificial trees to really show off the new architectural detail.

We think you should consider centering the Triana Rug in the room. This rug will pull pattern into the room without competing against other components of the space.
We recommend re-covering your floral chair with a more graphic fabric … try Laguna Khaki for a fresh update. This fabric will work nicely with the rug and it is perfect to repeat in pillows. Also add pillows in Ashford Paisley and Desert Chenille.
There’s a lot of movement on your window wall so we suggest keeping your drapery panels simple. Consider our smaller width Pinch Pleat Panels in Cream Linen. Mount them on a smaller iron rod for a fabulous update!
