Dear How to Decorate,
I have this long narrow area off my kitchen that I don’t use but I would love to sit and enjoy the large sliding windows and the morning sun.
I don’t want it to look crowded and even longer. I like the idea of a breakfast nook with a high upholstered back and a chaise for relaxing.
Can you suggest a look to bring more comfort to the kitchen area? My decorating style is beach inspired.
Thank you for your help.
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,
What a great little space! We think it would be fabulous as a little sitting area.
In reviewing your image, it appears there is just enough space for a chair an ottoman against the wall. Since your style is beach inspired, we think there is a little fun to be created with the space.
First, lay down the Suzanne Kasler Ikat Rug centered in the area and then, under the long window, add our Bergere Chair and Ottoman upholstered in Athena Mineral.
In the right corner, bring in the Morgan Corner Shelf in white as a perch for plants books and favorite accessories.
In the space between the chair and the shelf, pull in a Lotus Garden Seat in light blue as a spot for your coffee cup and newspaper.
We recommend hanging Suzanne Kasler’s drapery panels in Linen Blanc on your sliding door to soften the harsh angles of the frame.
We also suggest hanging our Lotus Prints in the room to bring the beautiful soft blues up to eye level.
If you need the occasional extra seating, we suggest tucking a bench under your counter to the left.
Happy Decorating!
