#CelebrateBallard with Laura on Pinterest
Ballard Designs is turning 30 years old! To celebrate the occasion, we’ve asked one of our favorite bloggers – Laura Trevey of Bright Bold & Beautiful – to curate her very own Pinterest board featuring 30 of her favorite things from Ballard Designs. Laura’s classic style, countless fabulous DIY projects and beautiful home tours will inspire you to create, organize, and renew your own home. Let’s get to know the woman behind the blog, shall we?
“As a watercolor artist, I am obsessed with finding creative color combinations and how a certain color palette can make a room stand out.”
The Scoop
If you could describe your decorating style in one sentence, what would it be?
When it comes to home decorating, I am drawn to traditional and classic design with a modern twist.
How and where do you find your inspiration?
As a watercolor artist, I am obsessed with finding creative color combinations and how a certain color palette can make a room stand out.
What’s been the most challenging part of your home to decorate, and how did you overcome it?
With our family of five, the family room has been the most challenging room to decorate. I want it to be stylish, yet casual and comfortable for everyday living. I invested in a large sectional, which looks great and fits the whole family for movie nights.
What’s the one thing every style-conscious homeowner should have?
Great lighting. Statement pieces such as beautiful chandeliers and great table lamps really light up a room.
And last but certainly not least, what do you love most about sharing your home on your blog?
My home is a part of my life. Sharing my home with my readers is just another way to be more personable and REAL online.

I always love the colors you use to accent a space! Also, I used to work for a lighting company and am still a bit obsessed with it. I always love when people appreciate good lighting!

The older I get the more lighting plays a part in EVERYthing! And those prints would make the perfect backdrop for just about any tableau 🙂

Laura, I had no idea you were a watercolor artist. My husband is a painter, and I love having his work displayed throughout our home.
I completely agree about lighting. It can make or break a room.

I LOVE the picture with the dress up top, so beautiful. I also agree about the lighting, that is the one thing I don’t like about my house. Your home is beautiful!
Geralin @ Metropolitan Organizing
I absolutely agree with you about lighting Laura! Fabulous lighting serves a purpose – it’s functional and a great way to accessorize.
