How To Decorate My Guest Room? by Catherine Z.

Guest Room
Decorating Dilemmas is a weekly column in which our stylists answer your design questions, so you can tackle your home decorating project with complete confidence.

Dear Ballard,

I’m stuck. I love how the Suzanne Kasler ikat panels and fringed burlap tablecloth work in my guestroom with my current bedding. However, it needs more.

I’d like to add a rug and/or reupholster the accent chair. I need wall accessories too.

What fabrics/textures can I add to this room so it comes together? I’m stuck in a color rut of aqua, white and burlap!

Thanks,

Catherine Z.

Dear Catherine,

What a great start to your guest bedroom! Love the colors – all you need are a few accessories and we think you have a winner.

The rug we chose is our Allure Hand Knotted Rug.

Next we chose our set of two Custom Soliloquy Prints for above the bed.

The white fretwork prints would work better to the left of the drapes (one over the other). It will help to brighten the corner. Adding a floor lamp like our Cote D’Ivorie Lamp will add to the corner too. The chair will look great covered in our Chandra Celadon fabric. Try making a couple of pillows from the fabric to toss on the bed. You can also add some coral accessories for a “pop” of color.

Next, we chose our Grand Chateau Mirror which will hang replacing the white fretwork prints. We feel the mirror will help to open up the room and give it some architectural interest.

With just a few additions, we think you will have a warm and inviting guest room! Please let us know what you think – we love the feedback!
