Dear How to Decorate,
I have attached an image of our Master Bedroom work in progress. We have an off white bed, with bright blue night stands and grey walls. I would like to use these pieces and keep the existing wall color, but I need advice on how to tie it all together. Where do I start? I need a rug and bedding patterns to make the existing colors work nicely together!
Also, we have very narrow windows on either side of the bed that I am not sure what to do to dress them up with the small amount of space. The floral arrangement and two pictures above the night stands are not staying. This space has so much potential. Please help! 🙂
I have also included a picture of our master bath so you can see that color palette.
Thanks!
Katie
Katie,
When decorating your master bedroom, always remember that simplicity is the key to creating a serene retreat. Keeping in line with the pieces that you already have, your dream room will take shape in no time.
Let’s start with incorporating a plush wool rug in tones that complement the finishes of your bed, night stands and wall color. Our Catherine rug will make an amazing statement and provide a beautiful base of subtle color.
We offer several bedding collections that can be combined to give you a custom look. The Audree Pom Pom bed skirt and shams look great layered with our Jardin Toile and Ava Block Print quilts and duvets. We also offer a collection of Ballard Signature sheet sets in percale or sateen that will add to your luxurious look. All of the bedding choices we’ve mentioned in any color combination will coordinate with your color palette, but we especially love our spa or grey collections for your master.
From the photos that you have provided, we feel that your space needs a large art grouping above your bed. You can move your two existing prints to another space in the room, perhaps over a dresser. Our Buchoz Botanical framed pieces, grouped in a grid, will turn your bed into a gorgeous focal point, plus they work with your existing colors! We now offer a beautiful new collection of carved wood and iron table lamps with multiple choices of shades to fit your space.
A bedroom is a great place to bring in that extra design element by simply installing a chandelier. Our Claire 9-arm chandelier will bring ambiance and the right amount of desired light and beauty to the area.
Last but not least, if your space allows, we suggest bringing in some kind of bench for the foot of your bed. This final flourish will give your bedroom a luxurious feel, not to mention serving a functional purpose too. We chose our Reynolds Upholstered Bench with Pewter Nailheads, upholstered in Suzanne Kasler’s Sky & Blanc Stripe.
The ideas and selections we have provided will give you a good starting point for your master bedroom sanctuary.
Happy Decorating!
