Taryn, What’s In Your Tote?

What's in your summer tote bag?

Isn’t there something fascinating about seeing what’s inside a girl’s bag? It can reveal a lot about a person, and during the summer, it seems like everyone is always on the go. That means they’ve got their bag chock full of their can’t-live-without items. So we asked, what’s in your summer tote bag?

Taryn is our Industrial Designer. When we come up with an idea for a product, she’s the talent responsible for designing it, making sure it works, and communicating the design to our manufacturers. Look and see what you’ll find inside her tote bag!

I vacation in Mount Desert Island in Maine every summer. While there, my favorite place to disappear to is Seawall. I love to find a quiet spot to read, paint or just take in the amazing views. I love our Color Block Canvas Tote — it’s great for those daily excursions because it’s fits all my must-haves and is in a fun coral color!

Vaseline Rosy Lips – I’m never without it. A little bit of color for the lips is always a good idea!

Magazines – I always carry something to read: Domino Magazine, Elle Décor, House Beautiful and Architectural Digest are my top picks.

Scarf – Just in case the breeze picks up. I love a scarf with detail, such as tassels or embroidery, like this one.

Insulated Bottle –  My S’well bottle is great for keeping my water cold or my coffee from the Coffee Hound nice and warm. Mine is in a bright, cheery color.

Painting Materials – I always keep my Cheap Joe’s watercolor palette and brushes in my bag along with my Watercolor Notebook by Moleskine just in case I find a moment of inspiration.

Linen Picnic Blanket – It’s perfect for watching fireworks in the park or for perching on the rocks listening to the waves crash against the shore. This one is lightweight and perfectly sized for my chocolate lab and me. The etsy shop owner, Leslie, is beyond kind. She even made me a custom blanket for my linen couch to match as a protection cover from the dog. I have bought multiple blankets from her now and take them on every vacation.

Tide Pen – Because I am messy!

Camera – My waterproof/shockproof/freezeproof  Lumix camera by Panasonic. Everywhere I go, it goes with me. And because I am a bit clumsy, it’s what my husband calls “Taryn- proof.” It’s the best. And I never know when I’ll find inspiration for a furniture design, whether it’s a pattern or a leg shape. You have to be ready to document it.

Thanks, Taryn!

Now, what tote bag would you … tote?
