You know, neutral gets a bad rap. It’s always accused of being bland and boring, but we beg to differ! With the right mix of proportions, patterns, and neutral tones, gray, white, and even beige can be seriously stunning. We’re sharing 15 different bedrooms that may not be filled with color, but certainly can’t be called boring.
We actually think bedrooms lend themselves to a muted, neutral color palette. If there’s a room in your home that you want to be relaxing, it’s the bedroom. We love how this one is so fluffy and comfortable! Tons of soft pieces, like a tufted, upholstered bed, airy linen drapery panels, and a skirted side table create a really luxurious feel.
We mark this bedroom down in the pretty-much-perfect column. Mixing textures is one way to make sure that your neutral bedroom doesn’t feel bland. In this space, we used a luxe velvet headboard, crisp percale duvet cover, a quilted coverlet, glossy white side table, and striped linen curtains. There are so many textures and a pretty mix of patterns. Perfection is indeed attainable!
Don’t underestimate the impact of simplicity. Sometimes keeping your space scaled back is the perfect way to make a statement. We matched our bedding to an upholstered Camden Headboard to create a more uniform look, then brighten it all up with a crisp white duvet cover and shams. A glossy black nightstand, black and white photography, and medium toned gray wall color create a pared down room that we can’t help but love.
Not interested in using color in your bedroom? Opt for drama instead! In this bedroom designed by Suzanne Kasler, she went for drama instead of color by choosing a tall headboard, then topping it off with a large sunburst mirror.
Pretty, girly details are a fun way to give your neutral bedroom extra personality. We chose a glittering chandelier and mirror to give the oak finish of our Isabella bedroom collection a more feminine feel.
If you’re going for a neutral bedroom, we think it’s important to take a few of the pieces in your room up a notch. That might be a statement-making headboard like our Wilshire Winged Headboard, maybe it’s a fabulous chandelier over the bed, or maybe it’s a pair of tall mirrors behind your nightstands. Or perhaps it’s all three!
Pattern and texture are the two most important things to consider in a neutral room, otherwise your space will feel one-note. We mixed mirrors, oak furniture, glossy white lamps, tassel bedding, and a patterned rug together for a polished, but eclectic space. And the best part? The shiplap wall behind the bed created extra detail on the wall.
Our simple formula for a stylish, neutral bedroom? A bed with personality, patterned bedding, a mix of nightstands, and a soft ottoman at the foot of the bed.
For a seriously dreamy bedroom, we love the look of all white. Just be sure to bring in lots of details so your space doesn’t feel like a hotel. We used monogrammed ruffled bedding, a headboard with a caned detail, a coordinating bench with caning, and a white mirror. The variety of whites — both true white and creams — add extra dimension to the space. Plus, the textured bead board walls lend a charming backdrop.
It’s hard not to fall in love with a canopy bed. They’re so dreamy and certainly make a statement! We love this space because while it’s all gray, the mix of patterns give it a whimsical look while still being polished.
This sweet bedroom is all about the toile patterned bedding. A darker linen drapery panel in a rich, mocha color helps offset the sweetness of the bedding.
This beachy bedroom is grounded in neutrals like a braided jute rug, headboard with raffia panel, toile burlap curtains, and a burlap bedskirt. The sandy color palette works perfectly for this seaside space.
In this soft bedroom, a mix of patterns and finishes keep things from feeling stale. We love the embroidered bedding paired with our favorite Ticking Stripe, and the oak finish of our Serpentine 2-Drawer Side Table with our Bone Sunburst Mirror.
If color isn’t on the agenda, we suggest mixing neutrals together. In this space, we used equal doses of gray and flax and white. That way, no one color dominates, creating a monotone feel, but the mood is still relaxed and understated.
