Jana’s outdoor space, before

I’m delighted to be sharing my petite balcony makeover with you all today. What started as a cold concrete area has transformed into the coziest space for fall entertaining!

Here are my tips for creating an outdoor space that’s welcoming & warm:

1. Light the Space

Just as lighting creates ambience inside, outdoor lighting is key in creating an inviting outdoor setting. Nothing creates an intimate atmosphere for entertaining like the warm glow of candles flickering and lights twinkling overhead.

2. Furniture that ‘fits’ the space

Outdoor furniture can be bulky, so pay attention to what will best fit your area. As our space is small, I choose the iron armless chairs as their streamlined shapes keeps everything looking open and light.

3. Every room needs a rug — even your balcony

Outdoor rugs tie define a space and of course feel soft underfoot. Ballard’s Cableknit rug is so easy to keep up — any spills come out with simple dish soap!

4. Cozy throws for curling up

The texture of a throw blanket creates a cozy, inviting space that will draw you in, and as the temperatures drop, you can enjoy your outdoor space well into chilly nights. I like having a few on-hand for guests to help themselves.

5. Trays for days

Durable trays, like these cute glavanized ones, enable you to bring drinks and appetizers outdoors with ease and clean-up is more seamless too.

Next week, I’ll be sharing my tips for entertaining outdoors, so be sure to check in.

Great ideas for outdoor comfortable and beautiful living space. I was wondering where the lighting came from, as I would like to purchase some for my patio.
