Runway to Room: 8 Fall 2016 Fashion Trends Translated

 

When we’re dreaming up the new products for a season, we’re always super inspired by fashion — whether it’s color palettes, dressmaker details, or overall style sensibility. So we’re always tickled pink when certain trends we’ve been loving show up both in our seasonal stories and on the runway. Below we’re talking about 8 fall fashion trends you can find both on the world’s chicest catwalks, as well as in our catalog.

Velvet

It’s a no brainer that velvet is the ultimate Fall fabric. It’s luxurious, cozy, inviting, and holds color so beautifully. Velvet was a huge trend on the Fall 2016 runways, and we channeled that velvet look into upholstery. Doesn’t our Eton Sofa look fantastic in a rich, spice-colored velvet? Yummy!

Animal Prints

We’ve been on the animal print bandwagon, since oh, forever! And we’re loving that cheetah and leopard prints are top of mind for fashion too! We’ll take it anyway we can — on a pillow, on a rug, on a sofa. We love it all.

Chinoiserie

We couldn’t have been more delighted to see chinoiserie patterns showing up on the runways. This is a look we’ve long loved, and it’s a classic motif that translates as beautifully into clothing as it does into your home.

Brocade

Brocades are back in style big time, and while we don’t use a ton of brocade pieces ourselves, we love the way they echo traditional rug patterns.

Navy

We’re all aboard the navy train (err, boat?), and it appears the fashion world is too! We love the way metallic works with classic navy to give it nautical feel, just like our gold sunburst mirrors look fantastic over a navy headboard.

Tartans and Plaids

For fall and winter, there’s no more appropriate pattern than a plaid! We translated this perfect pattern into table linens and throw blankets, and on the runway, it was mostly in outerwear.

Romantic Details

Flirty, romantic details were all of the catwalks at fashion week, and we personally can’t get enough of them either. In this bedroom, we used a gauzy canopy on the bed and watercolor bedding to create a soft, romantic look that you’ll love waking up in!

Loose, Laid-Back Tailoring

For a while now, fitted and flattering have been the silhouette du jour, but we’ve recently been noticing looser, more laidback styles and we couldn’t agree more. We’ve adopted that same style set with more casual, loose slipcovers with no piping and a more airy fit.
