Feature Friday: Erin Gates’ Office

Back in February we had the pleasure of meeting Erin Gates of Erin Gates Design and Elements of Style blog. Erin is an interior designer, blogger, and author. You may recognize her first book, Elements of Style: Designing A Home & A Life, by the striking black and white striped spine.

Members of the Ballard Designs team were in Natick, Massachusetts for our new store opening at Natick Mall. While we prepped the store for the big day, we hosted podcast recordings and Erin joined us to chat about designing for families and her recent renovations. One of Erin’s major projects has been the renovation of her company office. From the outside, the office looks like a boutique; topiaries frame the front door while a café table and chairs provide a welcoming spot to sip coffee and take a break from a busy day. We offer a similar café table and chairs set.

In her office reveal blog post, Erin mentions she “wanted the space to be serene and a great mix of traditional and modern with a pop of color.” When you walk through the front door, you are met by a seating area. These chairs are similar to our Louisa Bergere Chair that you can customize. To get a look just like this, we recommend the Vintage Ticking Stripe Black fabric.

We spy our Blue & White Umbrella Holder in the corner!

The other side of the seating area features a sofa that brings in the color Erin so desired. The Chartreuse fabric is a fun pop that doesn’t overwhelm the entire office. Our Felicity Acrylic Coffee Table is a contemporary touch to make smaller spaces feel airy and open.

Opposite of the seating area is part of the desk space. Erin chose to use our Original Home Office Partners Desk for everyone’s personal workspace. It comes in four different finishes with the ability to configure drawers and cabinets depending on your preference. Our Nailhead Message Board looks very similar to the bulletin boards at each desk set. We love having somewhere to pin photos and finds for inspiration.

To help utilize as much space as possible, each desk has our Livy Acrylic Stand to raise the computer. You can slide the keyboard right underneath for a clean work station!

Every office needs a meeting space and plenty of filing. We are loving this take on the every-day office file cabinet. Erin and her team have baskets clearly labeled for the countless fabric swatches they have collected with each project. You can get the look by using a combination of our storage baskets. We think it is so important to work in an environment that makes us comfortable. Erin’s renovation is that and more. We can see lots of creative projects coming together in clean office space! You can see even more of the office on Erin’s blog post.
