Decorating Dilemmas

Hello Ladies!

I recently discovered the podcast and have been loving it! I’m moving into a new condo soon which has a small but light filled room that I will be using for a home office. I’m stuck debating between two colorways of your Margaret desk. I love the soft blue gray, but am worried that I will grow tired of it over time and will wish I had picked the white. While the blue gray feels more exciting to me now, will the painted furniture trend fade? Will it look dated soon? I’m hoping for this desk to be an investment I can keep for the long haul. I’m attaching my vision boards for the room, one in white and one in blue. Thanks ladies! I hope to hear my question on the air!

Suzanne would pick the soft blue gray desk. The colors are classic and timeless, and with the combination of other things going on in the home office, it will not go out of style. The soft color of the desk also can be versatile with the unlimited wall colors, or even wallpaper.

My dining room is open to our ‘reading room.’ How do you coordinate lighting between the two rooms? I want a more country French chandelier for the dining room, but I have no clue what to do with the reading room.

There is a visual sequence in design, and that is one thing Suzanne works heavily on together with her clients. Also consider the idea of a country French traditional lantern, big lampshade lights or bowl lights in the dining room, and something more artistic in the reading room. You are dressing the rooms as you dress your body, so coordinating colors or finishes will help pull it together.
