Decorating Dilemmas:

Hi!

Here’s the inspiration board for my bedroom makeover. My concern is that if I don’t paint the Salerno, all of the white furniture won’t match and it’ll look strange. I’m going for a beachy vibe. 

My decorating dilemma is I’m considering painting my new Ballard Design Solerno Console – eek!  I have been eyeing this piece for almost a year now and was finally able to purchase it but when it arrived it didn’t match the color online.  Online it looks like a milky white but in person it’s a dark cream color.  I was hoping it would match my Sophie Side Tables but they aren’t even close.  I’m considering painting the console but it just seems weird to paint a brand new piece of furniture.  Have you ever painted your Ballard Design pieces to fit your décor better?

First off, what a fun space you’re working on. We love all the elements you’ve pulled together in this inspiration board!

We don’t think you should have any qualms about painting your Salerno Console. Rachel mentions that she’s painted several brand new pieces of furniture, and it’s not a problem.

Our only suggestion is that you should get all of the elements into the room before making your decision. If the furniture pieces aren’t right next to each other, you may find that it’s not necessary to paint the console at all. As a rule, we don’t think it’s necessary for all of the white pieces to match exactly, as long as they’re not visibly clashing. But definitely get everything else set in place, and live with the cabinet for a week or so before going through the trouble of painting.
