What is the correct way to list initials for a monogram?
When selecting a style for your monogram, keep in mind that the order of initials varies according to the style.
For monogram styles in which the center letter is taller than the others, the order of initials is traditionally first/last/middle. For example, if your name is Laura Marie Clark, the monogram would be LCM.
For styles in which all letters are equal in size, the order of initials should be first/middle/last. In this case, the monogram would be LMC.
Do the finishes on your wood furniture coordinate?
Ballard Designs style is all about layering and mixing things you love. The old rules about everything matching no longer apply, so our products should complement your current furnishing style.
We love woods for their endless variations, so many of our finishes are designed to bring out the wood's unique characteristics and natural beauty, making every piece a little bit different.

What size tablecloth is needed for my table?
To figure out what size tablecloth you need, take the diameter of the table, multiply it by two, and add the table height.

Why can't I write on my chalkboard?
Our chalkboards should be primed before the first use. To prime your chalkboard, take a piece of chalk, lay it on its side and rub it up and down the full length of the chalkboard. Then, do it again going across the width of the chalkboard in all areas. When you've covered the entire surface, erase it thoroughly and the board should be ready to use.
Can I plug in a chandelier or sconce?
The majority of our sconces must be hardwired and typically need installation by a certified technician. If the item has a cord and can be plugged in, that will be stated in the description.
What is California’s Proposition 65?
The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also known as Proposition 65, requires businesses to provide warnings such as signs or hangtags for products containing any of approximately 800 chemicals.
For many listed Proposition 65 chemicals, California has determined "safe harbor" levels below which no warning is required. If a warning is required, California law requires that the product must have the following statement: WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is in violation of any product safety standards or other requirements. Even the State of California has stated, ‘The fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.’ Additionally, while this warning label is only required for products delivered to residents of California, because the vast majority of retailers, including ourselves, do not segregate their California vs. non-California inventory, many products are delivered to and/or purchased by consumers outside the state of California with this warning label.
Ballard Designs Inc. is fully compliant with Proposition 65 and is committed to providing only high quality and safe products for our customers. If you have any other questions, please contact our customer service department at 1-800-536-7551
